Monise captures first win in Legends Legends Nitro Series in Phoenix
Geoff Monise pulled off an upset in the final of the Modern Warriors Legends Nitro Series at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, beating Bobby Cottrell, who won the Winternationals crown yesterday. Monise and the Quarter Pounder team denied him a double-win weekend with a 4.75 to 4.81 final-round decision.

About the Series
To help preserve NHRA’s rich history and tradition while capitalizing on the success of nostalgia drag racing competition, NHRA formed the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series in 2009 that today crowns year-end points champions in 13 categories.
The series benefits everyone, from the racers and fans to The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, and provides a great opportunity to preserve NHRA’s rich heritage through nostalgia drag racing competition. The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series year-end points champions in each of the 13 classes will receive a gold Wally trophy; Champion’s jacket and hat; and a cash award.
The series’ 13 featured classes include: Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster; Nostalgia Funny Car; Group 1 (A/Fuel, Jr. Fuel and 7.0 Pro) and Group 2 (Nostalgia Eliminator I, II and III; A, B, C and D/Gas and Hot Rod). The 7.0 Pro class is an index class with breakout rules – intended for front engine dragsters, center-steer Altereds and pre-1980 Nostalgia Funny Cars.
