The clouds are low and ominous in Northern New Jersey as rain at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park has delayed the start of Friday's racing at the 31st annual Matco Tools Spring SuperNationals. An overnight storm system ripped through the area, wreaking some havoc in the pits where several canopies and corporate tents took flight.
The first two professional qualifying sessions, featuring drivers such as NHRA Winston Top Fuel champ Tony Schumacher (pictured), are scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., which has everyone hopeful that the wet weather will blow through in time for the Safety Safari to prepare the track for action. Several rounds of Federal-Mogul Sportsman action is also scheduled throughout the day.
