Mike Dunn's Epping Power Rankings
Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Doug Kalitta, Tommy Johnson Jr., Jeg Coughlin Jr., and Eddie Krawiec are the top picks in ESPN2 analyst Mike Dunn's Power Rankings heading into the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals in Epping.

Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Doug Kalitta Even
2. Shawn Langdon NR
3. Antron Brown NR
Mike's notes: If we were running eight-car fields, Kalitta would have seven wins so far this year. As everybody knows, we run 16-car fields, and his team really struggles in the final, having only one win in seven. He has a great car, and you still cannot count him out. Langdon had some luck to get the win in Bristol, but I know that team will build on the momentum of that final.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Tommy Johnson Jr. NR
2. Del Worsham +1
3. Courtney Force NR
Mike's notes: I've only had T.J. in the rankings once this year, but if we were still doing the top five, he would have been in the rankings a lot more. He has had a good car most of the year, but the car he had on Sunday may have been the best car anybody has had this season. To run low e.t. of every round in a Funny Car in the conditions we had in Bristol is nothing short of amazing! After that performance, there was no doubt he would be No. 1.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Jeg Coughlin Jr. Even
2. Erica Enders-Stevens Even
3. Shane Gray NR
Mike's notes: Coughlin had the best car and did not get the win. Pretty much the opposite of what he did the last three races when he did not have a great car but still went to three finals, winning two. Erica had the third-best car in Bristol and got the trophy, which should give her confidence while her team works to get that car back to their dominating performance of the early season.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Eddie Krawiec Even
2. Andrew Hines Even
3. Hector Arana Jr. NR
Mike's notes: No surprise the Harleys are one and two. They appear to be running away from the rest of the field, but Hector Arana Jr. had a very impressive bike in Englishtown. One to watch would be John Hall. He has had a good bike, and he got his first career Wally here last year.
