Mike Dunn's Topeka Power Rankings
Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Doug Kalitta, Robert Hight, and Erica Enders-Stevens are the top picks in ESPN2 analyst Mike Dunn's Power Rankings heading into the NHRA Kansas Nationals in Topeka.

Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Doug Kalitta +1
2. Antron Brown -1
3. J.R. Todd NR
Mike's notes: I have Team Kalitta bookending Brown because not only do they have good cars coming into Topeka, but they have a great record with both cars at this event. One to watch would be Spencer Massey. He did not have a good car in Atlanta, but he put on one of the best driving jobs I've seen in a long time. If you give him a car that is close, don't ever bet against him.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Robert Hight Even
2. Ron Capps Even
3. Courtney Force NR
Mike's notes: Still the hardest class to predict (other than Hight). After Hight, there are eight different drivers you could put on the list, so I am sticking with the formula. Force has been getting more consistent, which is what the team needed to do. Now they just need a little more performance without losing that consistency, and they will get back to the winner’s circle.
Rank Driver Plus/minus
1. Erica Enders-Stevens Even
2. Shane Gray +1
3. Jeg Coughlin Jr. NR
Mike's notes: Enders-Stevens was low every qualifying and eliminations round in Atlanta. She still has an amazing car. I like the next two on the list since Gray's numbers keep getting better, and Coughlin put on a driving clinic showing that he will never quit on you and will get the most out of any car you give him. Ones to watch should be the Summit boys. Greg Anderson and Jason Line looked good in Atlanta, and they hold both ends of the track record in Topeka, Line with elapsed time and Anderson with speed.
