Only a few individual seats remain for the Don Garlits Rat Roast, a special charity event to honor the greatest driver in NHRA history and celebrate his 80th birthday. The list of roasters and individuals anticipated to attend reads like a Who’s Who of NHRA Drag Racing.
The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona beginning at 6 p.m. It is one of the many activities planned during the 52nd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals presented by Super Start Batteries, Feb. 9-12 at historic Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.
Proceeds from the Don Garlits Rat Roast will benefit Quarter Mile Foundation, whose mission is to collect and archive the history of drag racing and related aspects of the high-performance aftermarket, focusing on capturing the first-person, oral histories of the surviving pioneers and legends.
Tickets are only $80 per person and include dinner and entertainment by a lineup of roasters that is sure to bring out never-heard stories and accounts of the early days of drag racing as well as of many of “Big Daddy’s” most famous exploits. NHRA announcer Bob Frey is hosting the event.
To purchase one of the few remaining individual tickets, log on to www.NHRATix.com and click on the Rat Roast link. VIP tables are sold out.
