Track Walk program allows fans to walk with a legend
Monday, April 11, 2011

NHRA has rolled out a number of fan-first programs during this historic 60th Anniversary season, and chief among them has been the wildly popular Track Walk with a Legend program, which gives fans young and old the rare opportunity to not only walk with a legend, but also to walk on the same sticky, rubber-glazed tracks upon which so much of the sport’s rich history was made.

Fans showed up in huge numbers for the debut Track Walk with Don “the Snake” Prudhomme at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and the fan-friendly program gathered momentum as fans strode beside Darrell Gwynn at Gainesville Raceway and listened to stories from Roland Leong at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

NHRA fans’ next chance to walk with legendary NHRA drivers will be Sunday, April 17, at zMAX Dragway, where all fans with a Sunday reserved ticket for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals will be invited to participate in the special Four-Wide Track Walk featuring Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Kenny Bernstein, and Connie Kalitta.

The Track Walk with a Legend program will continue at many of the remaining events during NHRA’s 60th Anniversary season, including in Houston (May 1) and Atlanta (May 15), giving fans the chance to walk beside such NHRA legends as "Snake" and "Big Daddy," Muldowney, and Bernstein, and many more as the legends share stories with – and take questions from – NHRA fans.

Legends and rules for participation vary by track, so fans are encouraged to contact their local track operator to learn more about their specific Track Walk with a Legend and how they can be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
