The following serves as a reminder for those teams that have not completed the mandatory hazmat training to log into their account on the registration Web site to view the training material and sign the agreement. This also serves as notice for those who have completed the training to make the necessary arrangements with the approved provider or make the necessary arrangements to dispose of waste according to applicable EPA/DOT regulations.
The NHRA recently announced a new environmental policy beginning with the 2010 Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals. All competitors are required to complete an online training program by logging into their accounts at www.nhraeventreg.com. Those who fail to complete the training in advance will be prohibited from completing the registration process on site and will be subject first to on-site training. The NHRA strongly encourages all competitors to complete the training online to prevent any lengthy delays during the registration process. In addition to completing the online training, teams will be required to handle all waste materials according to state and local laws. Additional information on future national events will be provided as it becomes available.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING FOR GAINESVILLE:
Teams electing to remove their own nonhazardous, recyclable/reusable materials will be required to follow the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) rules concerning regulated waste activities for hazardous waste and used oil.
All containers of fuel, solvent, oil, or any other liquids or materials that would constitute a pollutant if spilled onto the ground must meet all of the following criteria:
**must be in an EPA/DOT-approved, locking-lid container
**must be on an EPA-approved secondary containment device at all times in the pits
**must remain closed when not in use
**containers will not be provided by Gainesville Raceway but may be purchased from the on-site waste vendor or provided by the team
Nonhazardous material with a continued use to the team may be taken with the team when the team leaves the facility. The team is responsible for ensuring that the material is stored and transported in accordance with all applicable EPA/DOT regulations. Teams electing not to remove their own nonhazardous, recyclable/reusable material, or who have generated hazardous waste, will be required to make arrangements with the on-site provider, in advance of the event, for the proper testing and disposal of this material. The team is responsible for all costs associated with the handling of this waste. The approved provider for Gainesville Raceway is:
