New look, new challenges motivate Patrick
Thursday, December 10, 2009

Robert Patrick's '10 Ford Mustang GT Pro Stocker will offer a little of the new with a little of the old as his new Jerry Bickel-built pony car will sport a nostalgic blue and white scheme created by Eddie Hollon and applied by Jeff Hoskins.

“I wanted a car that looked like a throwback to the factory-backed teams,” said Patrick, whose family owns the Purvis Ford dealership in Fredericksburg, Va. “The body style looks so much like the cars of yesterday that it was really cool to adopt that look. It was a good look back then, and it remains the same.”

After nearly a decade’s absence, the veteran Pro Stock racer plans to bring his new look and familiar intense attitude into the NHRA 500-inch Pro Stock arena. Patrick is scheduled to launch the new campaign at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville.

“I really can’t wait to get something on the dyno and see where we are at,” said Patrick, who will run a Bob Ingles engine with CFE heads and Bob Book induction. “Our goal is to start testing as early as possible and hit the track competitive at the first race.”

Patrick confirmed a series of test dates with the new car in early January.
