Frequently asked questions

Q. I go to the results page and don't see anything, or the results are old. What's the deal?
A. The first thing you should do is reload the page, using the Reload button at the top of your browser. The first time you visit a page, some browsers (especially America Online's) cache, or store, the page on your hard drive for fast retrieval the next time you visit, and do not always recognize that a newer version of the page has been created. This is especially true with pages that are updated often, such as our results pages. The best way to fix the problem is to use one of the newest browsers available.

Q. What is the best browser to use to see the pages?
A. Two of the best browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape. You can download a free copy of them by clicking on these links. Both browsers view the pages with the same quality.
Note: These are the most commonly used browsers and can run on a internet connection or even while using AOL. Once the browser is downloaded to your computer, use your file manager to run the installation program, and follow the install instructions. To run one of these browsers while using AOL, first log on to the AOL. Once the connection is established, go to the Program Manager and launch the selected browser that was installed. The browser will then run, allowing the pages to be seen at the highest quality.

Q. When are the qualifying results posted on the results page?
A. The qualifying results are recorded after each run. After the class has finished running, the results are back-checked with the official NHRA CompuLink sheets; these are made available only after every car in the specific class has passed inspection. If a car does not pass the inspection, then the car is listed as disqualified. After verifying the results, then the information is available to be posted on the site.

Q. How soon after the class runs are the results available?
A. The pro categories have a quicker turn-around time during qualifying, usually less than 1 hour; the post race inspection takes less time with the smaller amount of vehicles. The other categories take much more time during qualifying, sometimes 1-2 hours. The inspection process is increased dramatically with the quantity of vehicles running. During eliminations, there are not as many car running in each class. The elimination results can not be posted until they are verified with the official release from NHRA. This is made available much quicker as the rounds go on.

Q. Where are the Thursday qualifying results postings?
A. Some races have Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car qualifying on Thursdays. However, it is very hard to have someone at the track on a Thursday to post the results. The people who post do not get to the track until early Friday morning during most races and input Thursday's results first thing.

Q. Why are the results verified?
A. The results are verified to insure the quality of the results. The results are being typed in after the car passes through the finish line and typing mistakes can occur.

Q. Where are the Sportsman results?
A. Due to the large quantity of vehicles running in the sportsman classes and the time to input all the runs, the posting of eliminations does not begin until there are 32 cars remaining. A high quantity of cars running becomes impossible for the recorder to keep up with and insure the quality of the input.

Q. Why do the images look fuzzy on the site?
A. This should not occur using the better browsers. AOL users, however, should go to the Members pull down window, located on the top of the program screen; select the Preferences item; once the Preferences screen comes up; select the WWW icon; then select the Uncompressed Graphics bullet. This will allow the image to be viewed at a better imaged quality. Other browsers have options that can be modified similarly.

Q. How do I purge the cache of old files?
A. AOL users, Go to the Members pull down window, located on the top of the program screen; select the Preferences item; once the Preferences screen comes up; select the WWW icon; then select the Advanced button. Select the Purge Cache button and then select yes, this will remove all items from cache. Other browsers can have the cache purge by following similar procedures.

Q. It's an hour after a scheduled round, where are the results?
A. Drag racing can have unexpected occurrences. If a car leaks oil or it rains, it can affect when the posting will be made available. These types of events usually are noted under Event Notes. However, occurences such as power or telephone outages could affect the ability to post results. Be patient. The results will be posted as soon as it is humanly possible.
