Only one spot remains available for Top Fuel and Funny Car racers in their respective categories in the lucrative NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout fields taking place at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. Those two positions will be determined in the next 10 days by NHRA fan votes and a pair of lottery-style drawings.

In the Top Fuel class, three drivers are eligible, and five drivers in Funny Car will be entered into the fan vote . Fan voting on NHRA’s Facebook page is now open and will remain open until noon (ET) on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The fan-voting process will determine the number of lottery balls that each eligible driver will be assigned during the Traxxas Shootout lottery drawings. The Traxxas Shootout lottery drawings will be conducted during a press conference for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. The winners of the fan vote and lottery-style drawings will earn the opportunity to meet the Traxxas Nitro Shootout top seeds in the opening rounds of the special event.

The three Top Fuel drivers who are eligible for the eighth position in the fan vote/lottery are Terry McMillen, Scott Palmer, and Troy Coughlin Jr.

The five eligible Funny Car drivers are Courtney Force, Tim Wilkerson, Cruz Pedregon, Del Worsham, and Jim Campbell. 

Below are the drivers who have qualified for the Traxxas Nitro Shootout and the first-round pairings for the lucrative bonus races that will award the winning drivers $100,000 each.

4. Tommy Johnson Jr. vs. No. 5 Jack Beckman

The Traxxas Nitro Shootout for Top Fuel will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 2, with rounds at 3:45, 5:45, and 7:40 p.m. The Traxxas Nitro Shootout for Funny Car will be held Sunday, Sept. 3, with rounds at 12:45, 2:45, and 4:40 p.m.
 
The Traxxas Nitro Shootout will be featured in FOX and FS1’s race coverage of the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.
