Jerry Kugel's '29 Ford Highboy Roadster

Jerry Kugel, a Lifetime Achievement honoree at this year's California Hot Rod Reunion, is one of hot rodding's more influential pioneers and still a major force. Kugel's '29 Ford highboy roadster was powered by a turbocharged small-block Chevrolet that put his sons, Joe and Jeff, into the Bonneville Salt Flats 200-mph Club. This entry was preceded by a small-block Ford-powered '34 coupe, a Ford-powered '32 roadster that put Kugel in Bonneville's 200-mph club, and a '27-T modified roadster that featured a SOHC 427 Ford powerplant. Kugel most recently built a '92 Firebird Trans Am (with working power windows) that is the first stock-bodied vehicle to exceed 300 mph on gasoline.
