"Big John" Mazmanian's CM/SP '62 Corvette
The first in a long series of immaculately prepared candy-apple-red race cars campaigned by "Big John" Mazmanian was this beautiful CM/SP Corvette. Driven by Mazmanian's nephew, Rich Siroonian, it won class honors at the 1962 Winternationals with its injected small-block 283-cid Chevy. With the addition of a supercharger, it moved up to BM/SP, where Siroonian won class at the Bakersfield March Meet. It later carried a larger-cid small-block belonging to Bones Balough, a future Mazmanian driver, and was campaigned until late 1963, when Mazmanian began running a '41 Willys that would challenge such teams as Stone-Woods-Cook for A/GS supremacy in the mid-1960s.
