Ernie Duncan Chevrolet Sprinter

In 1962, Don Brown built this black sprint car, impressively adorned in red flames. This classic example of the sprint cars of the 1960s that produced so many future winners of the Indianapolis 500 was driven to the 1968 California Racing Association Championship by Billy Wilkerson and raced actively through 1979 by many other drivers and owners. NHRA Vice President-Technical Administration/International Relations Carl Olson purchased the car in 1984 and spent 12 years restoring the 302-cid small-block Chevy-powered machine, which was put on display at the NHRA Motorsports Museum in June 1997.

Said Olson, "I have always been a fan of sprint cars and midgets that raced on dirt oval tracks, and the chance to take part in restoring this particular vehicle, which raced against the likes of A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, and Johnny Rutherford, was simply an opportunity that I couldn't pass up."
