Final results Sunday from Hallsville Raceway, the  fourth of six events 
in the South Central Division in the 1997 NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing 
Series: 

In the final rounds of racing at Hallsville Raceway, Jackie Stidham won the 
Federal-Mogul Funny Car competition and Bill Hynes won in the Federal-
Mogul Dragster category. Stidham beat Todd Paton with an elapsed time of 
5.97 and a speed of 232.29. Hynes, the runner-up in division fours last 
race, at State Capitol Dragway in Baton Rouge, had an elapsed time of 
6.255 and speed of 189.58 to beat Billy Bybee. 

In the Competition Eliminator category, Buddy Nickens beat his cousin, 
and chief rival, Bo Nickens; in Super Comp, Billy Torrence out ran Bob 
Fuller; in the Super Stock class Gilbert Johnson bested Terry Emmons; 
in Stock Eliminator competition,Harvey Emmons beat Pat Jeffrion; in 
Super Gas, Bobby Gentry won out over Shane Gay; in Super Street racing 
Jim Cappiello won the right to represent the division at the Federal-Mogul 
All-Stars race near Columbus by beating Alan Claunch.
