Rain forces Division 3 race postponed

	The Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series event at Great 
Lakes Dragaway, Union Grove, Wis. was rained out Sunday 
afternoon and has been rescheduled for completion, Saturday,
July 5.

	Two rounds of eliminations had been completed in 
Competition through Super Street eliminators before a second and 
final rain shower forced postponement of the event just as the 
Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car categories were set to run.

	Randy parks at the wheel of the Rydin Decal/Fluke Federal-
Mogul Dragster and veteran Vern Moats in his Team Kendall 
Dodge Avenger Funny Car set track records and collected the 
Winston Top Qualifier award bonuses. Other Winston Top 
Qualifiers included Jerry Arnold in Competition (E/EA), Randy 
Mans in Super Stock (GT/KA), and Charles Blossom in Stock (AT/SA).

	While Parks' 5.764 at 242.84 m.p.h. and Moats' 5.763 at 
244.10 m.p.h. runs were outstanding, the most impressive run of 
the event was Jeff Wilson qualifying his Federal-Mogul Dragster 
with a 5.796 at only 202.70 m.p.h. as he had both chutes deployed 
at the finish line.

	Details of the July 5 event schedule are being worked out 
and will be announced by the North Central Division office.
