Saturday Qualifying Final:

Randy Parks and Kim Fritts are the top qualifiers after
the final qualifying round at the NHRA Federal-Mogul
Drag Racing Series at Quaker City  Dragway.  Parks claimed
the number one position in the Federal-Mogul Dragster
category with a 5.820 second, 240.68 mph run to lead Bill
Reichert who followed in the second spot with a 5.897
second, 234.41 mph pass.  A pass of 6.117 seconds, 234.41
run by Fritts was enough to take the top qualifying spot
in Federal-Mogul Funny Car ahead of Al Billes who
qualified second with a 6.124 second, 234.41 mph lap.  

Final Eliminations for Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-
Mogul Funny Car are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday with
all other categories to begin at 9:00 a.m. Gates will open
at 8:00 a.m.

Advancing from the number one qualifying position, Randy Parks
won the Federal-Mogul Dragster category at the Federal-Mogul
Drag Racing Series event at Quaker City Dragway.  Joining Parks
in the winner's circle was John Powell, last years Federal-
Mogul Funny Car defending Champion from the North Cental Division.

Facing Bill Reicher in the final round of Federal-Mogul Dragster,
Parks won with a 5.914 second pass, at 234.41 mph pass to beat
Reicher's 5.87.4 e.t.  at 238.13 mph.  Powell's victory in
Federal-Mogul Funny Car came at the expense of Von Smith.
In the final, Powell recorded a pass of 6.016 seconds at 233.20
mph to take home the win.
