Friday Qualifying: 

After the first day of qualifying for the NHRA Federal-
Mogul Drag Racing Event, Competition Eliminator driver
Kevin Robb (Mohnton, PA) leads the class with a 7.608
elapsed time, .562 seconds under his index.   Robb is
followed by Tom Ekroth (Mohwah, NJ) who qualified
second with a 7.767 elapsed time, .523 seconds under.  

The Federal Mogul Dragsters and Funny Cars will begin
their qualifying tomorrow with runs at 3:00 p.m. and
7:00 p.m. Racing begins at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow with
spectator gates opening at 8:00 a.m.  

Top Qualifiers in other categories are: Super Stock--Joe
Scott (Sunbury, PA) with a 10.519 e.t., .981 seconds
under his index;  Stock Eliminator-- Bud Rowe
(Bridgeton, NC) at 12.112 e.t., 1.038 seconds under.

Saturday Qualifying Final: 


Jeremy Torstveit and Fran Monaghan are the top qualifiers
after the final qualifying attempt at the NHRA Federal-
Mogul Drag Racing Series at Old Bridge Township Raceway
Park.  

Torstveit claimed the number one position in the Federal-
Mogul Dragster category with a 5.699 second, 244.56 mph
run to lead division points leader Cliff Bozzelli who
followed in second with a 5.740 second, 238.22 mph pass.
 A pass of 5.886 seconds, 246.37 run by Fran Monaghan
was enough to take the top qualifying spot by more
than a tenth of a second in Federal-Mogul Funny Car.
Frank Manzo qualified second with a 6.013 second,
242.78 mph lap.  

Top Qualifiers in other categories are: Competition
Eliminator--Kevin Robb (Mohnton, PA) with a 7.608,
.562 under; Super Stock--Joe Scott (Sunbury, PA) with a
10.519, .981 seconds under his index;  Stock
Eliminator-- Bud Rowe (Bridgeton, NC) at 12.112,
1.038 under.

Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car
will begin eliminations at 12 noon on Sunday with
eliminations in all other categories scheduled
for 10:00 a.m. Spectator gates open at 8:00 a.m.

Sunday Results: 

Frank Manzo took a huge step in claiming his third
straight NHRA Northest Division Championship with
a win over Melinda Green in Federal-Mogul Funny Car.
Bob Newberry, now second in the points, lost to Manzo
in the semi finals.  Manzo ran a 5.885 e.t. at 245.05
as Green broke just off the line.

Jeremy Torstveit moved ahead of Cliff Bozzelli in
the points for the Federal-Mogul Dragster chase for
the Northest crown.  Torsveit raced to a 5.650 e.t. at
247.79 mph to Bozzelli’s 5.754 e.t., 242.19 mph.Torsveit
now leads Bozzelli by 18 points in the Federal-Mogul
Dragster for the Northeast division.
