Div. 1 FMDRS continues at U.S. 13 Dragway

U.S. 13 Dragway will host the Delaware 1st State Championship, a round of the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, June 8-10, 2001. The event will feature more than 400 drivers in eight racing categories, including 250 mph Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Federal-Mogul Funny Cars. It is the second of seven events in Northeast Division competition and is a part of the 43-race nationwide series.

Gates at U.S. 13 Dragway open Friday at 11 a.m. Qualifying and time trials begin at 1 p.m. FM Dragsters and FM Funny Cars will have qualifying runs at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, gates open at 10:30 a.m. and final qualifying and time trials begin at noon. FM Dragsters and FM Funny Cars run all three rounds of eliminations on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. Eliminations for all other categories begin Sunday at 11 a.m. Gates will open at 10 a.m.

General admission tickets for the Delaware 1st State Championship are $8 Friday, $10 Saturday and $12 Sunday. Tickets with a pit pass are $15 Friday, $18 Saturday and $20 Sunday. A three-day pass is $50 and a Saturday/Sunday pass is $35.

NHRA FEDERAL-MOGUL DRAG RACING SERIES: Fact Sheet

WHAT: Delaware 1st State Championship, a round of the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships. Categories include: Federal-Mogul Dragster, Federal-Mogul Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The event is the second of seven in Northeast Division competition.

WHERE: U.S. 13 Dragway, Delmar, Del. Track is located on U.S. 13, just ½ mile north of the Delaware-Maryland state line.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, June 8-10, 2001.

SCHEDULE: Time trials and qualifying schedule for the Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series:

FRIDAY, June 8 -- Gates open at 11 a.m. Qualifying and time trials begin at 1 p.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

SATURDAY, June 9 -- Gates open at 10:30 a.m. Final qualifying and time trials are scheduled to begin at noon. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car run eliminations at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

SUNDAY, June 10 -- Gates open at 10 a.m. Eliminations begin at 11 a.m.

PURSE: The NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series participants will compete for cash and contingency awards of $154,535, part of the 43-race, $6.5 million series.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
FEDERAL-MOGUL POINTS FUND -- a $561,000 point fund from Federal-Mogul, which will be shared by 2001 Federal-Mogul divisional champions and Federal-Mogul national champions. Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven Federal-Mogul national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

SEALED POWER LOW QUALIFIER BONUS -- a $167,500 overall bonus fund from Federal-Mogul's Sealed Power brand to the low qualifiers at each of the 43 Federal-Mogul events and the 24 NHRA national events: $1,000 each in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car; $200 each in Competition and Super Stock; and $100 in Stock.

FEATURES: More than 400 drivers in the eight racing categories. Eight-car fields in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car, featuring five-second, 250 mph side-by-side racing.
