Division 4 closes out at Thunder Valley

Thunder Valley Raceway Park will host The Autumn Classic, a round of the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, Oct. 12-14. The event is the last of six in the NHRA South Central Division. More than 400 racers in eight categories will be competing, including 250-mph Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Federal-Mogul Funny Cars. Drivers will compete for cash and contingency awards of $151,685, as well as points leading to national and divisional championships.

Gates at Thunder Valley Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials begin at 9 a.m. Friday and continue at 9 a.m. Saturday. Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Funny Cars will qualify at 5 p.m. Friday and at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m. Sunday. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car are set to begin eliminations at noon on Sunday.

General admission is $10 Saturday and $10 Sunday (general admission is not available Friday). Children 12 and under are admitted free on the general admission side. Pit side tickets are $15 each Friday and Saturday and $20 Sunday. A three-day pit side pass is $45. Children

5-12 are $5 each day. The track offers a $5 discount to all military personnel with a valid I.D.

NHRA FEDERAL-MOGUL DRAG RACING SERIES: Fact Sheet

WHAT: Thunder Valley Raceway Park Autumn Classic, a round of the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships. Categories include: Federal-Mogul Dragster, Federal-Mogul Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The event is the last of six in South Central Division competition.

WHERE: Thunder Valley Raceway Park, Noble, Okla. Track is located off Highway 77 South, south of Highway 9E. From I-35 take exit 108A (Hwy. 9E) east to Highway 77 and go south. Follow the signs to the track.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, Oct. 12-14 2001.

SCHEDULE: Time trials and qualifying schedule for the Thunder Valley Raceway Park Autumn Classic:

FRIDAY, Oct. 12 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Qualifying and time trials begin at 9 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 5 p.m.

SATURDAY, Oct. 13 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Final qualifying and time trials are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

SUNDAY, Oct. 14 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m. Eliminations for Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car begin at noon.

PURSE: The NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series competitors will compete for cash and contingency awards of $151,685, part of the 43-race, $6.5 million series.

BONUS ROGRAMS:
FEDERAL-MOGUL POINTS FUND -- a $561,000 point fund from Federal-Mogul, which will be shared by 2001 Federal-Mogul divisional champions and Federal-Mogul national champions. Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven Federal-Mogul national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

SEALED POWER LOW QUALIFIER BONUS -- a $167,500 overall bonus fund from Federal-Mogul's Sealed Power brand to the low qualifiers at each of the 43 Federal-Mogul events and the 24 NHRA national events: $1,000 each in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car; $200 each in Competition and Super Stock; and $100 in Stock.

FEATURES: More than 400 drivers in the eight racing categories. Eight-car fields in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car, featuring five-second, 250 mph side-by-side racing.

TICKETS: GENERAL ADMISSION: N/A Friday, $10 Saturday, $10 Sunday, children 12 and under admitted free. PIT SIDE ADMISSION: $15 Friday, $15 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 5-12 are $5 each day.
