The 2002 NHRA Sportsman Drag Racing Series will kick off Feb. 22-23 in Division 2 at fabled Gainesville Raceway hosts the season opener for the 45-event schedule, which will conclude more than eight months later with the Division 7 finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Nov. 1-3 All seven divisions again will host at least six events, with Divisions 1, 2, and 6 hosting seven races.

Division 1 will open its season May 24-26 at Maple Grove Raceway, followed by events at U.S. 13 Dragway (June 7-9), Atco Raceway (June 21-23), Lebanon Valley Dragway (July 5-7), Numidia Raceway (July 26-28), Old Bridge Township Raceway Park (Aug. 9-11), and Cecil County Dragway Aug. 23-25.

Following the Gainesville opener, Division 2 will host events at Orlando Speed World Dragway (March 8-10), Montgomery Motorsports Park (April 5-7), Silver Dollar Raceway (May 31- June 2), Bristol Dragway (July 19-20), and Atlanta Dragway (Aug. 9-11), with the season completing Oct. 4-6 at Darlington International Dragway.

Division 3 opens its season April 26-28 at Route 66 Raceway, followed by dates at Indianapolis Raceway Park (May 17-19), Mid-Michigan Motorplex (June 21-23), Edgewater Sports Park (Aug. 2-4), Beech Bend Raceway Park (Aug. 23-25), and, tentatively wrapping Sept. 20-22 at National Trail Raceway.

Division 4 kicks off March 1-3 at Houston Raceway Park, followed by trips to Memphis Motorsports Park (March 22-24), Texas Motorplex (April 19-21), and State Capitol Raceway (May 17-19) before its annual summer break, then resuming with events at No Problem Raceway (Sept.13-15) and Thunder Valley Raceway Park (Oct. 4-6).

Division 5 opens at Heartland Park Topeka May 3-5, followed by races at

The Colonel's Brainerd Int'l Raceway June 7-9), Bandimere Speedway (June 21-23), Douglas International Raceway (July 12-14), Nebraska Motorplex (Aug. 9-11), and Tri-State Raceway (Sept. 6-8).

Firebird Raceway in Idaho will host the first Division 6 event, April 12-14, followed by dates at Mission Raceway (May 3-5), Pacific Raceway (June 14-16), Woodburn Dragstrip (July 12-14), Race City Motorsports Park (Aug. 16-18), Renegade Raceways (Aug. 23-25), and Southern Oregon Dragway (Sept. 20-22).

The Division 7 season launches March 1-3 at Firebird International Raceway, followed on the calendar by trips to Southwestern International Raceway (March 29-31), Sacramento Raceway Park (May 31-June 2), Sears Point Raceway (June 28-30), Rocky Mountain Raceway (Aug. 9-11), and Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Nov. 1-3).
