Bill Reichert

CLEVES, Ohio - In the final results from Edgewater Sports Park, Federal-Mogul Dragster driver Bill Reichert and Federal-Mogul Funny Car pilot Marc White took home top honors.

Reichert of Owosso, Mich., took on Ken Perry of Gormley, Ont., Can., in the final and laid down a crowd-pleasing 5.910-second, 245.56-mph pass to take the win.

Glendale Heights, Ill., resident White squared off against Chuck Cheeseman of Galena, Ohio, in the Funny Car final. His 6.083-second run at 228.71 mph was enough to turn on the win light.

Winners in other categories are Jerry Arnold of Kalamazoo, Mich., in Comp; Brent Voges of Defiance, Mo., in Super Stock; Bill Semprott of Middletown, Ohio, in Stock; Ron Erks of Clinton, Ohio, in Super Comp; Rusty Cook of Cynthiana, Ky., in Super Gas; and Jeff Goodman of Hendersonville, Tenn., in Super Street.

In other racing action, the Best Engineered Car award went to Middletown, Ohio resident Ken Sharp for his '90 Eldorado Cadillac. The Best Appearing crew award was given to Jared Dreher and his Federal-Mogul Dragster team from Clinton, Ind. The award for Best Appearing Car went to the '32 Bantam driven by McConnelsville, Ohio, resident Rhett Matheny.

Competition heats up at Edgewater Sports Park

CLEVES, Ohio - In the final round of qualifying at Edgewater Sports Park, Federal-Mogul Dragster driver Jeff Wilson and Federal-Mogul Funny Car pilot Marc White overcame the hot and humid conditions to capture top qualifying honors.

Wilson of Winfield, Mo., took home a $1,000 check from Sealed Power when he made the quarter-mile run in 5.710 seconds at 251.60 mph to put him on the pole position. Also earning Sealed Power low qualifier money was Glendale Heights, Ill., resident Marc White. White made an impressive 5.983-second 243.63 mph pass to put him at the top of the Funny Car category.

Top qualifiers in other classes are Don Stratton of Beloit, Ohio, in Comp; Melissa Butler of Lebanon, Ohio, in Super Stock; and Mark Hinz of Warren Rapids, Mich., in Stock.

Federal-Mogul Dragster pilot Dave Hirata, from Lowell, Ind., and two of his crewmembers, including his father, Kenny Hirata, and crewman, Scott Beier, were taken to University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained when their A/Fuel Dragster experienced mechanical problems during morning warm-ups in the pit area.

Eliminations begin Sunday at 9 a.m. Gates open at Edgewater Sports Park at 8:00 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Funny Cars run at 1:00 p.m. For more information call the track, (513) 353-4666.

Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series rolls into Edgewater Sports Park

CLEVES, Ohio- In the first rounds of qualifying at Edgewater Sports Park, Russ Lindert in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Marc White in Federal-Mogul Funny Car are leading the fields.

Dragster pilot Lindert, of Manteno, Ill., made a 5.795-second, 246.84 mph run to put him ahead of his competitors. Meanwhile, Glendale Heights, Ill., resident White took the top spot in Federal-Mogul Funny Car with a 5.983-second, 243.63-mph pass.

Top qualifiers in other classes are Steven Ambrose of Woodhaven, Mich., in Comp; Brad Allen of Winamac, Ind, in Super Stock; and Don Holmes of Dayton, Ohio, in Stock.

Qualifying continues Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Gates to Edgewater Sports Park open at 9:00 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled for 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. For more information call the track, (513) 353-4666.
