Saturday Qualifying and eliminations:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bozzelli, English close out season with victories

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Cliff Bozzelli of Absecon, N.J., and Craig English of Mt. Holly, N.J., each came away with victories under clear and cold conditions tonight at Bristol Dragway.

Bozzelli, who had the holeshot against Shawn Bowen of Montrose, Mich. In the final, never looked back after the green light dropped defeating Bowen by .048 seconds.

"This is great, we came down here in hopes to earn some more points and possibly move up in the standings, and we won," said the former two-time Northeast Division Champion, Bozzelli. "We stayed focused the entire weekend and ran our races the way we knew we could. The team really came together, both at home and at work. They really earned the victory here today."

In Federal-Mogul Funny Car, Craig English took his first event win as well as the victory over Bruce Mullins of Fredricksburg, Va. Mullins did a magnificent job of driving, keeping his car out of the wall while being sideways for almost 500 feet and on two wheels part of the time.

A noticeably emotional English had a difficult time smiling in winner's circle trying to hold back the tears.

"I've been doing this for the past two years and throughout all the sacrifices the team has made to be competitive, the feeling of finally winning makes it just that much sweeter." English's best finish prior to today's victory was a runner-up finish to Frank Manzo earlier in the year.

Eliminations continue tomorrow in all remaining categories at 11 a.m. with gates to Bristol Dragway opening at 9a.m.
