The newest facility in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series was an overwhelming success in its 2008 debut and again last year, when it hosted special four-wide exhibition passes in Top Fuel and Funny Car. The event holds a crucial spot on the schedule as the second event of the Countdown to 1 and the race at which teams continue to battle for traction in their title bids.

2009 recap: Last year, this event marked the beginning of the Countdown to 1 playoffs to determine the NHRA Full Throttle world champions, and Cory McClenathan (Top Fuel), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock), and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle) jumped to points leads with wins, and Robert Hight vaulted from 10th to third when he won in Funny Car with a final-round defeat of rookie Matt Hagan. McClenathan took the points lead when he beat another rookie of the year candidate, Shawn Langdon, in the final. Edwards dominated Pro Stock, qualifying No. 1 and setting low e.t. and top speed en route to winning the final over Greg Stanfield. Arana picked up his second straight victory, third of the last four events, and fourth of 2009 when Karen Stoffer red-lighted in the final.
