The season concludes where it began with an event traditionally laced with drama. The historic racetrack typically enjoys seasonably cool temperatures that translate into perfect racing conditions and a spectacular, no-holds-barred battle for the prestigious NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series world championships. It’s a good bet that the Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle world titles will still be in doubt at the beginning of the season’s final day.

2009 recap: Antron Brown, Mike Neff, Greg Anderson, and Eddie Krawiec took race wins, and Tony Schumacher and Hector Arana scored season championships at the year-end event. The Top Fuel title officially was decided when Schumacher, with a two-point lead gained in a back-and-forth qualifying battle, and Larry Dixon both unexpectedly lost in the semifinals, sealing the margin at two. Arana won the championship in the semifinals when Krawiec, who needed to win the race and set a national record, was unable to make a backup run in the semifinals. Krawiec did win the race and, like Dixon, finished second by two points. In qualifying, Robert Hight and Mike Edwards clinched championships in Funny Car and Pro Stock, respectively.

How to Get There: The track is about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. From Interstate 10 east, exit Fairplex Drive or White Avenue and go north; follow signs to Fairplex. From I-10 west, exit Fairplex Drive and go north. The track is about 1 mile north of the interstate. Arrow Highway provides access from the north.
