1:40 PM  Frank had a better reaction time, and lead at every 
interval.
 (W) Bucky Austin (98 Firebird)             0.494     5.707 251.72

Austin's run was pretty stout - over 200 mph at halftrack.  He legged 
it out from there, taking the win by about a car length.

Payne took out Division 7 Champ Pete Swayne on a monster hole-shot 
yesterday.  Austin has been on a tear lately, so this should be a great drag 
race.  A little staging duel ensues, then both drivers go in. 


Payne collected a "Pomona Stripe", Mr. Neverlifts got out about a thousand 
feet then kissed the wall with the left side header pipes, pushing them flat 
against the body.

Miner blew the tires off twice at the start, first at the hit of the 
throttle, then again after he pedaled.  After that he could only watch Sam 
Blue march on the semis dancing left and right at the top end of the track.



In the Semis Monaghan will face Bucky Austin, while Blue was race Bucky's

3:36 PM        Fran is running Alan Johnson's wedge head motor and the Hoosier slicks.  Here he gets way out of shape at the start and takes out the 330-foot cone, T-boning it with the front of the racecar.  Austin was long gone by that point with h
is best pass of the weekend.



From the cup and chatter tire marks in the lane Monaghan will have quit
 a headache later...

One Austin is already in the final round - Blue keeps it from being a family affair.  Austin lead early, but must have pedaled at least once on the way downtrack.

5:47 PM  Both drivers saved the best "juice" for last, a great drag race to finish off the season.  Sam was ahead all the way down, Bucky couldn't make up the starting line advantage.
