Billy Meyer's Texas Motorplex has hosted an NHRA national event since 1986, and, as it has the last two years, will host two events in 1999. A unique feature of the Motorplex is its all-concrete racing surface, which has made it one of the quickest and fastest tracks on the circuit. The Motorplex was the site of drag racing's first four-second run, and, during last year's event, produced national records in Top Fuel (4.525), Pro Stock (6.867, 201.34), and Pro Stock Truck (7.594), in addition to Funny Car's first 4.7-second run.
