Bartone runs it out the back door in an attempt for lane choice.(W) Todd Paton (99 Trans Am) 0.450 5.935 242.32 (L) Butch Kernodle (96 Firebird) 0.489 6.182 227.19Paton starts to shake the tires, gets out of the groove and real close to the centerline, but keeps it in his lane. Kernodle with his quickest pass of the weekend, but it is not quick enough. Paton will lose lane choice to Bartone in the semi-finals.

Bartone will have lane choice against Manzo in the final.

And it's Bartone over Manzo, the NY native behind at the start and slower to 60' from there on it was all the Jersey car. They were almost even at half track, then Bartone pulled ahead to a half car lead at 1000', only to lose most of it before the finish. At the stripe, Bartone won by only 0.007 seconds, or less than three feet! So the Kendall machine loses to the Quaker State Camaro, in an exciting race to be sur e.
