Baucom does what he needs to on the light, but after that it is all 
Manzo.  Baucom ran his quickest pass of the weekend.  Manzo will have a bye 
next round, so he is in the final.

 (L) Edward Preslar (97 Probe)              0.000(R) (Broke)

Preslar can not make the call, so Bartone gets the freebie into the 
semi-finals.  Bartone runs it out the back door in an attempt for lane 
choice.

  (L) Butch Kernodle (96 Firebird)           0.489     6.182 227.19

Paton starts to shake the tires, gets out of the groove and real close 
to the centerline, but keeps it in his lane.  Kernodle with his quickest pass 
of the weekend, but it is not quick enough.  Paton will lose lane choice to 
Bartone in the semi-finals.

Manzo overpowers the track right off the starting line, and just coast on through the quarter-mile.

Paton with a big bang about 200 feet down track, and then he starts trailing oil the length of the track.  Bartone will have lane choice against Manzo in the final.

Just like it's supposed to work, the #1 and #2 qualifiers meet here in 
the final.  And it's Bartone over Manzo, the NY native behind at the start 
and slower to 60' from there on it was all the Jersey car.  They were almost 
even at half track, then Bartone pulled ahead to a half car lead at 1000', 
only to lose most of it before the finish.  At the stripe, Bartone won by 
only 0.007 seconds, or less than three feet!  So the Kendall machine loses to 
the Quaker State Camaro, in an exciting race to be sur
