Welcome to AtlantaFriday, April 25, 2008
Hello from Commerce, Ga. We are getting ready for our first qualifying run. It has been sunny all day, but now the clouds are coming in so hopefully the rain isn’t coming too. We just came from a meeting for all the teams. NHRA and Coca Cola announced that we are going to become the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series in 2009. It sounds like they have a lot of exciting things planned. They handed out their new Full Throttle Coffee which I was a big fan of right away. I tried the caramel-flavored kind and thought it was pretty good. They also have vanilla and mocha.

Yesterday after we flew in, I drove over to the University of Georgia campus in Athens for the NCAA gymnastics championships. I used to be a gymnast and still very much like the sport. I’m fortunate that I live near Ann Arbor so I go to University of Michigan gymnastics meets as often as I can. I’m a big fan of that team so I wanted to support them at their biggest event of the year. I went to the meet without tickets because I didn’t realize it would be sold out. Thankfully I found some other U of M fans and I begged a ticket off of them. I got to sit with their cheering section. I had a pom-pom in hand and everything. It was really fun. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Michigan’s night. They had a rough meet to end their season. Georgia was awesome and ended up with the highest team score of the night. Earlier this year, Georgia came to Ann Arbor for a duel meet and Michigan kicked their butts so I think the Wolverines just had an off day yesterday. I’m still a big fan though and will continue to support them. I already can’t wait for their next season to begin.

I’m at the race track right now sitting in the trailer, but I better get off my butt and go sign some autographs for the fans at our pit.

I started to write a blog while I was at the shop last week, but I never finished it so here is what I wrote: I don’t have anything too exciting to talk about today. I’m sure I can ramble on about something though. I had a pretty low key weekend. I hung out with some teammates at our local brewery on Friday night which is always fun. On Saturday, I went to kickboxing and then I stopped at Dunkin Donuts. I got my first iced coffee of the year since the weather has finally warmed up. I think the coffee gave me lots of energy because I went into cleaning mode. I cleaned my car inside and out. Then I cleaned my house. I even mopped my wood floors which I have not done, well, since I’ve lived there. It was nice to be able to open up all my windows and just let the place air out after being closed up all winter.

I’m also kind of a TV addict when I’m at home. I love to watch Dancing with the Stars. I think I’ve seen every show since it started. Once American Idol gets down to the final 12, I always start watching that. It’s been good so far. I like that Cook guy and the one with the dreadlocks is cool, too.

I’ve also been going to mosaic classes whenever possible, too. I haven’t written about that in awhile. I finally finished the piece I started back in November. It took me a really long time because I’m a bit too particular about how I place the tiles. I haven’t decided where to hang it yet. I wanted the sun to be the main focus of this piece as opposed the star. A shooting star rises up quickly and then fades away. A star like the sun burns steadily and brightly for a long time. I’ve already finished a second mosaic, and now I’m working on my third. It will be of a world map. I’ll show pics of my progress.

We are off to Georgia soon for our sixth race of the season, and we are sixth in POWERade points. Talk to you soon.
