So this weekend’s race is in
Memphis, and it’s the last race on the circuit where it is my first time racing at. I flew in on Thursday and took my entire team out for some dinner on
Beale Street in downtown. Downtown
Memphis was pretty neat and the guys had a lot of fun. It was a good way to kick off the weekend.
My dad and I headed out from the hotel on Friday morning for the track, but first I had to make a stop at Price Ford in Millington, Tenn. I’m doing an online blog for Ford Racing about driving different Ford production vehicles, a different one each week, and we had to get some filming done of me and a 2009 Ford Focus and a 2009 Ford Fusion. Ford is using seven of its racing personalities for this online driver campaign. Me, John and Ashley Force are the NHRA drivers doing the campaign and Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, and Jack Roush are the personalities on the NASCAR side. It’s called “I’m Driving One” and you can find it on Ford.com, fordracing.com, or bobtasca.com.
Also on Friday we had a group of Quick Lane dealers out for training in our hospitality tent, and then a group of folks from Price Ford were able to bring their kids out for the afternoon. It was some of their first times at the track, so it was neat to be able to show them around our pit and our car for the first time. Qualifying on Friday was pretty good for us, and we just missed being in the top 12 by .007.
And now we’re back here at Memphis Motorsports Park for day two of qualifying and we’re one of eight drivers fighting for spots 13-16 for the race. Chris and the guys on my team have really been performing well, so I’ve got no doubt that we’ll have a good and successful day and get this hot rod in the race.
