After an off week last week we’re headed to Bristol this weekend for the race. I’m really ready for this weekend. Our team has done some great things recently as far as furthering our program, so Bristol will be a good place to sort of bring everything together in one race.
In St. Louis, we only ran one round, but our consistency throughout qualifying was really a high point for our team. We were second in the pit crew points for that weekend. On Sunday, we ran against Del, who had the low ET of the session and made a heck of a run. The luck just wasn’t on our side that day.
I’m hoping that with all the run data that we’ve collected and the chemistry and momentum that our team has will help us have a really good showing in Bristol. One thing that was really cool after the last race was that I got to speak with Steve Waldron from National DRAGSTER for a feature in the magazine. It was really neat to do my first Pro feature story with them. I think it will be in the issue after Bristol, so make sure you go and get your copy.
During the off week I spent three days in Dearborn at Ford’s Product development center. I sit on a product advisory committee that works with Ford on future products. We worked on product strategy from now until 2015! I can’t say too much due to confidentiality agreements but I can say this I have never been more excited about being a Ford dealer than I am right now!
As for this weekend, I’ve never been to Bristol to race, but I hear it’s really a great facility. I know Cunningham is excited to go to Bristol. We just announced last week that we extended his contract for the next three seasons, so I’m really thrilled that we’re going to be working together for the seasons to come.
Well I’m leaving tomorrow to head to the track. I’m excited because this will be the first race that my wife has been at since Vegas, so we’ll have to go out and get a win just for her!
