This weekend I have the house to myself. Gary is in Indianapolis preparing the bike and tending so some upkeep on the transporter. With the upcoming schedule the truck will be on the road for a few months so this is a good time to perform the maintenance. Debbie and I both flew to our respective homes. Debbie, who has not moved into her new home, yet, is having a “Gal Pal” housewarming party. She invited a group of friends up to approve and christen the home. I flew home to get some work done and to get an update on the landscaping and other domestic activities. I really want to get some solar panels in place, but I have been having difficulty finding the right size and application for our needs. I want to run the outdoor kitchen, landscape lights and watering system, and I want it to be in grid. Were I live it would be foolish not to take advantage of the sun and the power we could drive back to the power company.
The interesting thing is that I am spending so much of my attention to the outside of the house, and I have not spent any in decorating the inside. Truthfully, I have not pictures on the wall and I have only one room decorated (kind of). My thought is that when I spend more time here I will know what I want and where I want it. As for the outside, I love to spend time outside, so it makes sense to me to get that going first.
Last night I spent time out side with the neighbors and then came back and bar-b-qued myself a Portabella Mushroom sandwich and sat outside and enjoyed the sunset, as I planned the next phase of the landscaping.
This will probably be the last time that I have the opportunity to just sit and enjoy. When I leave next week I will not return until mid October. When we are not racing I will be going to some big events for GEICO. We have the Bikers for Tykes coming up in Virginia Beach on Saturday Sept 6 and Sunday Sept 7. Should be a great time. We will have back to back racing and I will then go to Las Vegas Oct 4 for the Femmoto. If you’re in the area of either one, come on by.
Oh yeah, Gary will be trying to make his presence on PINKS the weekend I am in Virginia Beach. So if any of you have any hints for how he can get picked, email and let us know. I was going to attend and take the redeye to VB, but things just couldn’t work out that way so I will not be there. Probably better for him. He can be Gary Stoffer instead of ‘Karen Stoffer’s husband’, for the weekend. J
