Hey everyone. Sorry it’s been so long but we have been slammed here lately. I’m sure some of you kept up with the testing at Valdosta and the results so far here in Gainesville, but I figured I would just clue you guys into what I have been up to the last few weeks.
Well after the trailer got wrapped we got in the body work for the bike, which is awesome by the way. We started putting everything together at the shop; motors, bikes, etc… We had stuff all over the place. Dad would have probably died if he would have walked in and saw the shop like that, but he was racing so we got it all cleaned up before he got back. After he won in Memphis he went to Houston and ran good but lost second round. He then came back home and flew out to Bahrain again. He just got back home today and is already in his motorhome headed down here to Gainesville. He should be here about 3 a.m.
Okay, back to me. (ha ha ha) After we loaded everything up we hit the road and headed to Valdosta to go test for the first time since last year. We got down there and ran quite well actually. I didn’t run any of my good stuff down there because I didn’t want to hurt anything, but the older stuff ran pretty good anyway. Angie’s bike ran awesome! We are still looking for a sponsor for her, so after she made her 6.91 pass I was like, “Load her up.” We can’t afford to hurt anything on her bike, so I figured she would be fine for Gainesville (and she was).
We got to Valdosta on Thursday, but we didn’t even get to start testing until Sunday because of the weather. So I stayed and tested there up until Wednesday. We then headed to Gainesville to get set up for the real racing.
After watching it rain all day on Friday I was so ready for Saturday. I mean, you have this adrenaline going because it’s the first race of the year and you want to see where you stack up against everyone and then when it rained it out on Friday it was like crap, now we have to wait for another day. But it was worth the wait.
First pass out today I went a 7.01, which was good enough for third. Angie went a 7.02 and ended up sixth after the first session. We were excited! We came back and had a ton of work to do though before the next pass. Angie’s rear tire had a chunk out of it. It had tore a chunk out of it all the way to the cords, which took of some of the body on the back of the bike. Then I wanted to put in another motor to see what it would do, so needless to say we were super busy. I barely had enough time to use the bathroom before we had to go back up and run again. I was exhausted.
We went out for the next pass and the wind was ridiculous. At one point I didn’t even know if they were going to let us run or not it was so bad, but we did. We got up there and Angie went another 7.02, which was awesome and I went a 6.97 which put me second in the order. Angie stayed sixth, so needless to say we are very pleased with the outcome so far this year. Heck, a month or so ago we didn’t even think we would be here.
We just got done with the bikes and we loaded them up and are ready for raceday tomorrow. We just fired up the grill, so I gotta go eat. Root for us tomorrow!!!
