Hey everyone! Since the last time I wrote a lot of things have happened. I jumped on a plane to Pomona last Friday evening. Angie and I arrived in Pomona about 11 p.m. I was so exhausted that we just went straight to our room for a good night's rest. I got up early on Saturday morning and headed to the track, it felt so weird. Heck, the last time I was in Pomona I was crowned the champ and it was truly the best day of my life, so it felt strange, but a good strange.
So first things, first. We had to find Kenny. Kenny's team was so excited to see us. I had talked with him multiple times during the week before I got to Pomona and all he talked about was how happy everyone was that we were going to have a NitroFish bike. Angie and I walked around visiting all the people we only get to see at the races. I was so glad to see everybody. I think everyone along with myself is so excited about the 2008 season.
It was time for Q3 and Q4. We were up on the starting line supporting the team. It was awesome except for I wish we were out there racing, too. Kenny qualified 13th. Kenny decided that he wanted all of us to go out to dinner Saturday evening. We went to an awesome restaurant. We had dinner and then sat around the table and talked and I felt so at home with my new team.
Sunday soon got here and this was probably the second most exciting day of my life. I am already the champ but it will be official with my new ring and jacket. I couldn't wait for drivers ceremonies. We had to be up there at 9:45 a.m. I had to wait until all of the drivers were introduced. I was so anxious to get it. It was finally here. I got to walk out on that stage as the champ. There is no one better than me right now. The door opened and I was handed a very beautiful box with the best present ever, the championship ring. It's absolutely stunning. Everyone was taking photos of me and the ring. These rings look like Super Bowl rings. We didn't get jackets because something was wrong with them. They didn't tell us what. Angie and I went back to wish Kenny good luck and then she and I went up to Race Control. I never get to see what happens up there because I am always racing. It was very exciting. We stayed up there for Top Fuel and Funny Car and then down to support Kenny in Pro Stock. So after the day was coming to an end we were tired. We had dinner with all of the NitroFish gang and then off to the airport. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 11:30 p.m. We took the red eye home and finally arrived in Greensboro at 9:30 a.m. I was so tired that I came home and went to bed. I finally got up about 2 p.m and then it was time to get back to work.
This week all have been slammed. We have been getting the trailer wrapped, bike painted, crew uniforms designed, new leathers designed and everything else that goes along with getting another sponsor. Let me just say this. I am very appreciative to have Kenny and the NitroFish team step up for the 2008 season. I have the No. 1 on my bike and trailer and we are coming to Gainesville to defend our title.
