Well guys, here we are at the last race trying to win the Championship for the second year in a row. Things have definitely been beyond crazy, but I am super excited about tomorrow.
After Vegas we knew there were some issues we had to sort out before Pomona, so we stayed a tested at Vegas. We figured out a few things and hoped that we would be better when we got to Cali.
After locking up the hauler, we headed home for a week to try and relax. Dad decided we should all go to the beach and hang out in his motorhome, so we loaded up and off we were. Mom, dad, me, Angie, Melissa (my sis), Tristan (my little boy) and Rex (Amanda’s little boy). We had a blast. It was nice to just get away and not stress about the bike. We stayed for a few days, then it was back to Vegas to get the hauler.
After we arrived in Vegas, we drove to LA to meet up with Scott and Amanda. They meet us at Affliction (the apparel company) and we hung out there for a while, then headed to The Melting Pot that night after parking the hauler at the Pomona track.
I had never been to a fondue restaurant before that night, which was my birthday, and needless to say it was pretty cool. The dessert, where you get to pick your chocolate and dip cakes, fruits and cookies in it was amazing. It was an awesome birthday and a great way to start off the week.
The next night we headed to the NHRA softball game. We had a blast there too. We ended up killing the other team. I played pretty decent, but all in all I just had a lot of fun with all the drivers. It was a great way to kick back and enjoy everyone’s company outside of the track.
The week had flown by and before I knew it, it was already Thursday, Go Time! We ran one pass on Thursday and it was decent. The setup was a little wrong, so we tried something totally different on Friday’s pass just to see what would happen, and the bike didn’t like that either, so we put in our good motor Friday night in order to be ready for this morning’s session. We knew the 11am session would be the best.
We went out there this morning and ran great. It seems like the bike is running strong and hopefully it will continue to do so throughout the weekend. We have done all we can at this point in the season and it will all boil down to tomorrow. It’s going to be exciting and stressful all at the same time, but no matter what we had a great season.
Mom, dad and Melissa are all here. If we win the Championship, Amanda and Scott will come out to the banquet. They are in Miami right now at Scott’s last Cup race this year. He qualified second for tomorrow’s race, so tomorrow could be a big day for both of us.
Anyway, we will just take it one round and a time and see what happens.
