What a crazy week off it has been. I finally got home Wednesday morning after Sonoma and went straight to work on both bikes. I have been telling you all about the new chassis dyno that we got, and I know I haven’t been able to take any pictures, but if you knew how my week has gone you would understand why I haven’t had time.
I have been working on making more horsepower, just like every team out there is doing; and after working on the motor for several days I was finally ready to make the very first pull with the new motor on Sunday afternoon. I was warming it up and everything sounded great, so we let it cool down a bit and off we were to make our first pull. I think I was in third gear when BAM a loud pop happened. I was like “Oh ****!” I knew something broke. I was so mad. I worked all weekend on this motor and it went to hell in a handbag fast.
We got the bike off the dyno and took out the motor. After taking it apart, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The rod had broke, which caused the valve, the piston and who knows what else to break. I was flabbergasted. So here I was in crunch mode to get it fixed before I left today. I have literally worked around the clock the last few days to get things ready to go to Brainerd. It has been very hectic to say the least.
We also got another motor this week for Chris’s bike, so we are all pretty pumped up right now. Chris is just one round out of the top-eight and for the next two races my goal is to get him back in there. We have a little lead-way now that we have another motor and can somewhat push the limits, ya know?
I just now finally got everything loaded up and we have hit the road running to Brainerd. I love this race. It is always a great place to race, the fans are insane. They really pump you up. The Zoo is awesome, too. I do have to say if anyone has never been to Brainerd, you are definitely missing out. I will try and remember to take some pictures, so that I can show you all the crazy people and the floats at the Zoo, and hopefully some of Chris and I running well too. Keep cheering us on. See you soon!
