So this past weekend wasn’t all that great, but I guess we can’t win them all. It started out a little crazy like I said in the previous blog about breaking the motor on the first dyno pull, and things just got more hectic from there.
We got into Brainerd in the middle of the night on Wednesday, or early Thursday morning, whatever you want to call it. We parked unloaded and set up for the weekend. We ended up going to the Zoo that night, because, I mean, who doesn’t go to the Zoo when you are at Brainerd? We had a great time, but I actually forgot to bring my camera there. I know, I know, I was supposed to take pictures but I had so much on my mind that I totally forgot.
So the next day we were up bright and early. Everything was ready to go on mine and Chris’ bike, so off we were to the first qualifying session. Which if you all were keeping up know that things didn’t go as planned. Things actually didn’t goes as planned at all during qualifying. I couldn’t get my bike to run at all down the back, so I ended up changing motors after Saturday’s fourth session in order to be ready for Sunday’s eliminations.
I had to race Antron and Chris had to race Angelle, so it was Torco against Army. I really need to beat Antron in order to help Chris in the points and Chris needed to just go some rounds. I ended up running pretty decent, but had a crazy thing happen on the track that distracted me somewhat, so I was glad to get the win light. I was going down the track shifting gears first round against Antron and my visor on my helmet just flew open. You talk about being distracted. Holy crap! We ended up getting the win though, so it was all good. Chris also won. He ended up beating Angelle, because she red-lit but, hey, a win is a win.
Next round we had the Harley guys, so here we were again Team Torco against Team Harley. We did all we could, but it just wasn’t good enough. Chris’ bike wouldn’t shift into high gear and my bike just didn’t run as fast as Andrew’s. It wasn’t a terrible weekend, but I have had much better.
We are headed over to Maple Grove in Reading for the last race before the Countdown, so it is fixin’ to get real interesting. We have a lot of testing and dyno pulling to do after Reading, so needless to say the next few weeks are going to be very busy. It is going to be crazy, but exciting all at the same time, but I am pumped! I can’t wait.
James (my crew guy) and I are pulling into S&S Headquarters right now for a tour of their shop before finishing our drive to Reading, so hopefully next time I write in I can show you all some real cool pictures of that. See ya soon!
