Well, we pulled it off again. I have no idea how, but we did. My bike didn’t run good all weekend. We couldn’t get the tire to stop shaking ever. Friday and Saturday were insane. I was so frustrated, but I just kept telling myself that it would get better. When Chris and I ended up eighth and ninth, I thought “Great!” He needed to stay in the top eight, but I am never one for lying down. I don’t believe in team orders, so we went up there and ran it off.
I ended up getting the win, but it is never fun when you have to race a teammate. My bike, however, still did not run well, so we changed a ton of stuff after first round hoping it would make things better. We went into second round and normally you would think you would have to face off against the No. 1 qualifier, but we ended up with Shawn Gann instead, the No. 16 qualifier.
He drilled me on the Tree, but thank God we had enough to get around him. So off we were into the semi’s; I was so pumped. Heck I didn’t even think we could get by a round this weekend, much less get this far. We had Peggy Llewellyn, who had been incredibly fast all weekend. I knew I would have to Tree her and I did. We ended up running another decent pass and we were in the finals, my seventh of the year. Are you kidding me?
I swear sometimes I want to pinch myself, because this is by far a dream come true to be running as good as I am running this year. I pray that our hard work and consistency will pay off in the long run.
Anyway, so there were we going into the finals. We had Eddie Krawiec, who was having a great race, and I knew that his bike was going to be flying. I just went up there and raced myself. I cut a good light and next thing I know my win light is on. “Holy crap” is all I could think. We did it again!
I can not put into words how excited I was or actually still am for that matter. We have two races until our points are cut back and the Countdown begins. People keep asking me how much of a point lead do you have, and really I just say 10 points because in two more races that is all it will be. Of course, I am not a fan of the Countdown, but last year I probably would have said otherwise. We will just have to do the best we can and see what happens.
I am almost home finally. Owning your own team takes its toll every now and then; and driving to and from California is when you feel it. I just got a new chassis dyno last week before I left to go out to Sonoma, so I will put up some pictures of it soon. Gotta stay busy, ya know?
Keep rooting for us!
