From one race to the nextThursday, July 05, 2007

Hi guys! Rickie here. I know it’s been a while since I have wrote in, but I have been super busy between the Pro Mod and the Pro Stock car. Anyway, let’s catch up on the last few weeks.

Matt has been kicking butt; he has been running very strong here lately. Last weekend in Norwalk, he ran real good. The weight addition to everyone made it a little more of a level playing field. He had some problems with the tire shaking during some of the rounds, but ended up fixing it for the finals. He was about sixth hundredths ahead at the 60-foot marker, but then the bike wouldn’t shift out of second. Matt works real hard and he deserves to be running well, hopefully he can make it last through the end of the year.

I have been going to some races with him when I have a chance, but here lately I have needed to focus more on my stuff. I have normally been running in the Quick 8 Series around home in my Pro Mod car, but on July 3rd and 4th, the series decided to up it to a 16-car field for one race. It was pretty cool, I must say. We had a ton of nitrous cars show up. We ended up qualifying second and on July 4th we had the race. It was very hot, but as the rounds went on the temperature final began to drop.

We set low elapsed time each round of eliminations and ended up making it to the finals. The Tree was a little quicker than normal in the finals, and I just wasn’t ready. I ended up being a little late and lost the round. All in all we had a good week though. I actually had to use Matt’s truck and trailer, because my hauler along with my Pro Stock car is in Canada. I have a race there this weekend with the Pro Stock car, so needless to say it got interesting at times because I don’t know where everything is in the trailer, but we managed well.

I got home about 2 a.m. this morning from the track and had to get up at 5 a.m. to catch my flight to Canada. I have never been to Canada to race so I am pretty excited about it. As long as I can get some sleep on the way up there I think I will be fine.

There is going to be a surprise in Bristol this weekend if any of you all are going. I won’t ruin the surprise, but I will talk about it next week. I think Amanda, Rex and maybe Matt are going to Bristol to hang out, so if you’re in the area stop by and say, “Hey!” They are normally at Dave Connolly’s pits. Anyway, hopefully next week I will have some great news from Canada but for now I need to catch some sleep. See you soon!
