Hey guys, its Matt again. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a great New Year’s. Not much has been going on around here. We have all just basically been hanging out enjoying the last few weeks. Testing is just right around the corner so there will be no rest for us all real soon. We have some big news that will be announced soon, so make sure you are keeping up with NHRA news.
Overall, Christmas was real good around home. My sister, Melissa, came home from college and the whole family got to hang out for a few days. We did all the normal things that families do over the holidays, play games, watch movies, etc… We all went the other night and saw the new Rocky movie. See, when we were kids, dad always took us to see Rocky when it was in the theaters. Yes, all of them. We grew up loving those movies, so when the most recent one just came out we were right there on opening night. It was great! The best one yet in my opinion. I definitely recommend seeing it.
Santa was good to the kids this year. They were wide open Christmas morning, as I am sure yours were as well. Tristan got lots of clothes, a paintball gun, tons of toys and candy. Rex (Amanda’s son) got a new four-wheeler so now he can ride on the trails with the rest of us. Amanda made Dad a scrapbook from over the last 30 years. It took her almost a year to finish but it includes everything he has ever accomplished in racing. It is unbelievable. It is probably the best present Dad has ever received. If you are ever around Dad you will have to ask him about it. One day I hope I can accomplish just a little bit of what Dad has done.
New Year’s Eve we laid pretty low. Dad has been fighting a cold for the last few weeks and I had Tristan so we just hung out here at home. Amanda, Rex, Melissa, Utt, Dave Connolly and a bunch of other people went up to Ohio to attend a big party at Ron Erks’ (2006 Super Comp Champion) house. They had a blast. Evidently there was a ton of racers there; maybe next year we will have to attend and have a more upbeat New Year’s.
Mom and Dad are taking one last trip before race season starts, to Honduras to go scuba diving, so I am sure he will have tons of interesting stories and pictures when he gets back. Plus stayed tuned to NHRA for some updated info for the 2007 season. See you all soon!]
