Hey everybody, Rickie here. I have honestly been so busy here lately that I have rarely had time to do anything at all. However this past weekend I made some time to go watch Matt race on the way to get my new car in St. Louis. I stopped in Memphis on Friday and Saturday and watched it rain for a while.
After the rain stopped it got real hot and muggy real fast Friday night. The motor Matt put in his bike was actually the motor that had been under the bench in their trailer since Chicago. So we were interested to see the numbers that it could run. On Friday Matt was the third to the last pair of bikes to run that night and when the bike launched it went straight towards the center. After fighting it back to get into the groove his bike’s shift light got stuck in high gear. Therefore he shut the bike off about 100 feet early. When his e.t. came up on the board we were shocked. His run had broken the track record with a 7.086 and he ended up No. 1. Needless to say we were beyond thrilled. When he came back and told us he shut off early we were like, there is no way. But when we went back and looked at the computer, sure enough he had shut the bike off 100 feet early. We were pumped up. Not only because he was No. 1 and he broke the track record, but the fact that his bike was finally flying was awesome. He ended up staying No. 1 going into race day on Sunday, which is only his second pole ever. I wished him luck and headed down the road.

I had to get to Jerry Bickel’s race shop in St. Louis and check out my new Pro Stock car. I am very impressed with the way it looks and can’t wait to get it down the track. I have been at Bickel’s shop for the past three days getting everything in order for the car to be ready to roll right out of the box. We are going testing the next few days before heading up to the race. Hopefully we can get all the bugs worked out and we will have a great debut for the new car. I have partnered up with a guy around home that you will be hearing more about in the future so I won’t go into great detail right now. But things are going rather well around home and with this new car finally getting done things should now really take off.
After a long night of waiting for first round Matt went on to win in round one, which was held early Monday morning. However after being late the next round he was taken out in round two. He really hasn’t had a bad light in a while, but this past weekend it just happened. He was late and there is really no excuse for it. He will be fine. He will bounce back. It happens to the best of them. He’ll be practicing for Indy, I am sure. He has not only got the biggest race of the year coming up, but he is also in the Ringers Glove Battle on Saturday as well. Plus he is looking to win especially under the circumstances of last year’s race. So keep an eye on Matt at Indy.
I will keep you guys updated on how the new car is running once I get a few laps on her. Hope you like the new car! See ya’ll later!
