Hey everybody! My name is Amanda. I am Rickie’s older daughter and, of course, Matt’s sister. They have both been pretty busy in the last two weeks, so I figured I would write in and tell you some things about myself.
I am 24 years old and I have a 5-year-old son named, Rex. He is the one that is usually in most of the pictures with the mohawk. I also date John Utt, who is Dave Connolly’s clutch man, so, as you can tell, racing is and has always been my life. I have grown up around drag racing and actually learned a thing or two in the process. For the past two years I have been working for my dad in and out of the race shop. Whether it is working on the racecar or writing up articles on him, I am always around him working, and trust me if you are around dad you have to know how to work!
I have been at most NHRA races the past few years helping out here and there, whether it is with dad or Matt, but I recently have been employed by a marketing company in North Carolina, so it’s been keeping me pretty busy.
That however doesn’t stop dad from working my butt off on his Pro Mod car. I do, however, like going to these races around home with him, even though the next day I can barely move my legs because of all the running around. Working on a racecar is a great workout, I have to say. Whether it’s jacking the car up, packing chutes, taking care of the nitrous bottles and tires, and sometimes even checking the wheelie bars, it can get hectic quicker than you can snap your fingers. Especially if it is just me, him and my mom at the track. But it is fun, no doubt about it.
My job has me traveling a lot so I feel like I am never at home, but I enjoy what I do very much. Hopefully I will be in Sonoma in a few weeks to get some much needed “need for speed” adrenaline satisfied. Hope to see you all there!
