Hey everyone, Matt here! We finally made it to Englishtown. It takes about nine hours to get here from North Carolina and normally anything under nine hours we drive to. My dad likes to take his motor home to the close races so we drove up yesterday along with my mom and my son. It is actually a beautiful drive even though it is long. You have to not only go through Washington, D.C., but many water ways as well. I tried to take pictures on the way up here every time we went over a bridge, but my camera is not very good in motion.
On the way up here I started thinking about last weekend. When you’re on a three-race swing the last thing in your mind is always what happened at the last race. After it was all said and done last weekend we ended up No. 2, which let us face off against Marco Andreano first round. I had a decent light and ran a 7.088 which got us the win. Evan Knoll was on the starting line first round so I was glad to get the win for Torco Racing Fuels. Second round I was ready. I was comfortable on the bike and it was running fast. We finally got the two together, well so we thought. I was .033 on the Tree but the bike slowed to a 7.180. Which considering we ran in the .0s all weekend was a huge shocker when the numbers came up. I knew the bike wasn’t running good because I could see Ryan Schintz pull on me at every incremental. We took the motor apart and rebuilt it from the ground up before this race, just in case we need it.
Even though I went out in second round last weekend I am still thrilled with our performance. We are very excited about our possibilities this weekend. It is supposed to be hot the whole weekend, which will hopefully be good news for us. We normally run a lot better in hotter weather and so does dad, so as dad said in a previous blog, “Bring on the heat!”
