Race, race, race….Sunday, December 03, 2006

Even though race season is over the work never stops. Dad had one more Pro Mod race left in Jacksonville, N.C., the week before last. So we all loaded up and drove down the road to the coast. Normally when dad races Quick 8 Pro Mod they qualify and race all in the same day. This time however, since it was the last race of the year the schedule was to qualify on Saturday and race on Sunday.

Saturday we got three qualifying passes; the usual. The first pass dad couldn’t even get the car down the track. It just stood up and shook its brains out. On the second pass of the day we basically changed everything there is to change on a car. Dad went out there and not only set low e.t. of the weekend, but also set low e.t. for the entire year. He also set a new track record on top of that. Needless to say we were very excited!

Dad ended up number one going into Sunday, race day. First round on Sunday, he went straight down the track to get the win light. Second round, the car stood up and shook again just like it did the day before, giving the guy in the other lane the win light. Even though the last race of the season didn’t turn out as we had wanted, dad still set the track record. So all in all we had a pretty good weekend. After driving back home and unloading everything, we knew we had a week or so to just hang out and enjoy life. Well at least I did, dad’s been working from afar. I will get into that in a second.

My son, Tristan has this pretend paintball gun that you play with on a PlayStation game and we have become so addicted to it that we decided to go get the real thing. We now have six paintball guns, masks, paintballs, the whole kit and caboodle. We even went out and bought some huge spotlights and set them up in the field beside our house. I think we have played almost every night since we bought the guns.

I had never been hit by a paintball until the first day that we decided to play the game. And let me tell you if you have never played; you better double up on the clothes. It feels like you’ve been hit by a BB gun or even stung by a bee. Of course, I try not to get hit a lot. But I have plenty of bruises from where I have been hit. It is so much fun though! I recommend it to everyone. Especially if you have a lot of wooded land where you can play. Also the more people the better. Next time we play I will take some pictures and post them on here. It’s pretty funny.

Dad, on the other hand hasn’t even been in the country. Him and mom went to Bahrain, which is a little island in the Middle East. And no they didn’t go there on vacation. Well, not really. Evidently a man over there has one if dad’s old pro mod cars and wanted dad to come work the bugs out of the car. Small world, huh? So with a little bit of money incentive, mom and dad were off to Bahrain. They have called a few times since they have been gone and seem to be having a great time. They will be home in a few days, some I am sure we will have some very interesting pictures to show you all. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Make sure you check back in soon for pictures from afar!
