Well, another weekend of rain and another rescheduled race. This time, however, the bikes were not there; Dad, however, was there. His plan was to drive Pro Stock at Richmond this past weekend, so we will have to wait and see what happens next week. It should be pretty exciting, especially looking at the cool temperatures that are coming up.
Even though Reading was cool as well, things did not go as planned. We went out there first session of qualifying and we were second quickest. We made a few changes and ended up going a little quicker, then things went downhill from there. We tried some new things on Saturday and needless to say they didn’t work. Before we could go back and make a change the rain came.
We went into first round with lane choice and something we normally don’t use, which was a new tire. See, normally we break in our new tire in fourth session on Saturday afternoon so that it‘s ready for race day, but since it rained we didn’t get to. Therefore we decided just to go for it anyway. Wrong decision! Even though I red lit, the bike shot straight towards the centerline and I just about took out the cone. Whether the new tire factored into my red-light or not, so be it, it happened. Sometimes a new tire or a not-so-good tire will bite and shoot you straight forwards instead of spinning and then launching straight. Regardless of the new tire, I red lit. I was so frustrated, but, hey, racing is racing. You can’t win them all. The bikes have two races left and I can’t wait. Vegas and Pomona are two of the best tracks on tour and the points are so close in bikes. You never know what might happen.
As for dad, he was not only going to race in Richmond this past weekend. But he has decided to go back to his roots and race. He hasn’t been back there in 12 years and at his first race back, he ended up winning a national event in Pro Stock. He was so pumped; heck we all were. Not only did he run good, but in the finals there was a long staging battle and he got the holeshot for the win. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with and will be a huge contender for the championship next year.
There is a lot of racing coming up so stay tuned. Thanks for checking in!
