Virginia’s Len Cottrell, who will be celebrating 50 years of involvement in drag racing in 2010, has tabbed New Jersey’s Dave DeAngelis as driver of his Top Alcohol Dragster this season. The team will run at select NHRA Lucas Oil divisional and NHRA Full Throttle national events.

Cottrell, who started drag racing with a '51 Packard in Maryland in 1960, has been involved with various racing partnerships that included the ownership of everything from a Stocker to a Top Fuel car. He is most famous, however, for his 30-plus years of success racing a very popular series of Chicken Chokers supercharged Top Alcohol Dragsters, which helped to pave the way for 17 drivers. Cottrell has two national event wins and three NHRA Division 1 championships.

DeAngelis, who has been racing Top Alcohol cars on and off since 2001, has two NHRA Lucas Oil divisional race wins. He drove for Cottrell when he subbed in the Chicken Chokers car for an injured Tim Slagle at the 2002 Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals.
