Al-Anabi Racing team owner His Highness Sheikh Khalid Al Thani, who enjoyed a fruitful start to his NHRA involvement this season with a second-place finish in Top Fuel with driver Larry Dixon and a solid season by Funny Car pilot Del Worsham, is proving equally adept behind the wheel.
Under the tutelage of 13-time NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car champ Frank Manzo, Al Thani made his official driving debut at the opening round of the 2009-10 Arabian Drag Racing League season at the Qatar Race Club facility near Doha, Qatar, behind the wheel of a new Tim McAmis-built '68 Camaro.
According to WhoWon,com, Al Thani placed third in Pro Extreme qualifying with an eighth-mile pass of 3.859, 199.75 with the supercharged machine.
