With sponsorship from Kenny Koretsky’s Nitro Fish Wear, former Pro Stock racer Dave Connolly will be attempting to take home a large share of the purses available at the annual Million Dollar Drag Race at Memphis Motorsports Park.
Forced to the sidelines early this season by the country’s economic struggles, Connolly continues to hone the same competitive skills that labeled him a Pro Stock championship contender from 2004 through 2008. He won 21 times in 37 final rounds and finished third in points three times.
“I’m not racing as much as I’d like to,” Connolly said. “Things have been working out pretty well. I am looking forward to this race, or races. There is a $20,000 race Thursday and $30,000 races on Friday and Sunday. The Million Dollar Race is on Saturday.
“That’s a huge one. It’s an expensive race, too. I want to thank Kenny for his support this weekend. I’d like to do well so I could make up some for not racing Pro Stock this year.”
This is the second time in 2009 that Connolly and Koretsky joined forces. Connolly drove the Nitro Fish Pro Stock entry in Houston and Las Vegas early in the season.
Most of Connolly’s Super Comp racing has been on the East Coast. And there’s more to come.
“It gets real busy next month when we have 15 races scheduled over 18 days,” he noted. “That’s a lot of bracket racing, but it will be a lot of fun. But I really want to be back in Pro Stock next year.”
