Somebody has been using my computer. There are big ole paw prints all over the keyboard, and strangely, there are cigar ashes on the floor ... very strange. Anyway, I thought I would add an important blog entry today. As you know we are getting ready for our first qualifying blast down the quarter-mile at Indy and it seems like the races have already begun. Schedules have been keeping us very busy but every now and then we need to take time out for very special people.

My girlfriend Debi, has been making home health care visits as an additional part of her nursing career. Recently, she met a very special little girl named Caroline. The little 4-year-old is battling cancer. Today, Jack Beckman and I went to her home to pay her a visit. Caroline is a drag racing fan (smart little girl!). When we arrived at her home, she couldn’t wait to take us outside and show us how fast her little plastic green truck could go! I’m glad that she doesn’t drive a dragster because she took off so fast that I KNOW she would have put a holeshot on whoever was in the other lane!

As most of you know, Jack Beckman not only drives the Valvoline/Mail Terminal Services Nitro Funny Car, he has also battled cancer—and won! When I asked Jack to make the visit with me, I didn’t even finish the question before he answered, “absolutely yes.” We had a nice visit with Caroline and took her some drag racing goodies. She is now the proud owner of a die-cast Fram dragster. Fram cap, tee-shirt, oh and some cool Valvoline/Mail Terminal Services stuff, too. Fast Jack is not the kind of guy to show up empty handed!
Caroline has a sister, Natalie, and a brother, Sully, who take good care of her and are there for her every day. She also has a special day coming up — her 5th birthday! Happy birthday Caroline! I remember my 5th birthday—no I don’t, who am I kidding! Anyway...

I wanted to do this quick blog entry today to tell you all about Caroline, and to ask that you remember her, as well as her family, in your prayers. Don’t be mistaken, prayer is powerful and effective and she could use them from all of you. I thank all of you for reading this entry and for remembering Caroline in your prayers. Now, it’s time for me to get ready for round one.

See you in the fast lane...and let me know if you see anybody with huge paws playing with my computer...
