Another great weekend!Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Another good day at the races for the Fram dragster and all of the guys!

Okay, I will admit that it would have been nice to have gone another couple of rounds, but nabbing the No. 1 qualifying spot tends to make a belly ache go away! Coming off of our victory in Vegas, the whole team felt great going into this one. As it turns out, the track was biting well and the Goodyears got a good workout.

We were No. 1 in round one on our first blast down the track -– until Tony Schumacher ran right after us! We finished round one in the No. 2 spot with a 4.670. We were happy with that. Round two saw the track cool off a bit, that is always good. This time, Mike Green and the guys stepped it up and the Fram dragster blasted its way to No. 1 with a 4.562. I KNEW this was going to be a good day!

We had no idea what the next day would bring as the track temp was about 117 degrees. Luckily, the track was very good and we held on to the No. 1 spot with a 4.581. Did I mention that was the best run of the session? Thanks, Mike Green!

The last round was a good and consistent run for the Fram dragster. We did a 4.634, which was the second quickest pass for the session. Four good runs down the track in changing weather conditions. It looks like Mike and the guys have things figured out. Now all I have to do is drive, that’s the way I like it! We have Todd Paton in round one. I never take a guy like that lightly, they can jump up and bite you when you least expect it!

Then the rains came ... you know, it’s not such a bad thing to have a little sprinkle, it cleans and cools the track. The bad part is fighting complacency as you wait for the weather to break. It’s race day and it’s time to rock! Luckily the delay didn’t last long; at least we were the last pair down the track before the rain started. That way, the guys don’t have to thrash to get the car ready like they usually do.

Round two....hmmmm. Antron Brown. We have tangled before and I don’t think that he has forgotten the final round in Vegas! He is always tough bet we were certainly on our game. The Fram dragster was on another tear down the track! At first, I could see Antron, then I couldn’t! I knew I had a good reaction time (.055) and the car was pushing hard. I saw Antron's win light come on and knew that he had to have been screaming down the track or cut a great light.

I had cut a good light but he cut a great one (.023). We ran a good run, 4.562 to Antron's 4.591. With both cars performing very well like they should, he won on a hole shot by cutting a great light to my pretty good one. No regrets though! Mike Green and the whole Fram team did their usual great job and I can’t complain a bit. It is nice to have a very consistent crew and car … yeah, it’s a great ride for sure!

It takes so much support and help to put together a car that performs like the Fram dragster. What a team! That alone is rewarding in and of itself. Thank you to all of my guys again, you are as good as any out there. Two Full Throttle awards in a row and you guys are just getting started! Thanks again!

We don’t have much time off before we have to head to St. Louis. We intend to put our Gates Belts and Autolites to the test again with a consistent performance there. Thanks again to Rock Star energy drink for helping us ping! Hey Jeg, thanks for the cool camera shots! We also take our hats off to Bendix, Valvoline, and hey, Nordic Boats, hang on guys, we are just getting started!
