Home from Houston ...Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Well, race fans, we’re just getting back to Indy. Boy, it’s a long haul from Houston but it wasn't a bad weekend. The weather was good and we were able to get four qualifying runs in and made it to the second round.

I think the whole Fram team would like to have gone a bit farther on Sunday but with Mike Green coming down with diverticulitis on Saturday morning and taking himself to the hospital, Neal and the guys had to step up their game just to be ready to run. I must say they did a great job.

The next thing you know, Mike Green walks in the trailer just before the first run, even though he should have been at the hotel resting. But that's mike for you. He would never let me or the team down. We ended up in the No. 4 spot and had to take on “Hot Rod” Fuller first round on Sunday; that's always a tough pick.

We were able to get by “Hot Rod” and then were taken out by Antron Brown, the eventual winner, so that's his first win as a rookie Top Fuel driver. The only good thing is that going to the second round was that it moved us from eighth in points to fifth.

The guys are getting things ready for Vegas and we always seem to run well there. We will be staying at one of the Boyd Gaming casinos.

I took some pictures of a few things this weekend. One is my guys and me meeting the mayor of La Porte, Texas. They closed down the town and had lots of show cars and a great band and lots of food and drinks for all. It was just for DSR drivers, which is a great perk of working for Don Schumacher.

And, of course, there has to be a picture of Tori Mac…

See you at the races.
